lyrics
From the starting gun to your last shot
You run your race with everything you've got
The distance traveled doesn't mean a lot
You are where you are
You're born wanting to be some other place
Along the way you changed your name and face
But even if you sink without a trace
You are where you are
And home is there to meet you in the end
Home turned out to be your bestest friend
It may take a lifetime for us to learn
Your trajectory is a U-turn
And this is Home
Someday when the speed of life grinds slower
When your expectations are all lower
You can hear familiar voices cheers you over
They've never gone
They're there all along
And home is there to meet you in the end
Home turned out to be your bestest friend
Whether in a box or in an urn
This is where you're going to be returned
This is Home
Serene: "The musical inspiration behind this song was 'United We Stand' by The Brotherhood of Man, a 1970 utopian hit I've yet the courage to sing at karaoke. Since Bronx is home, your home never leaves you and that's what I was trying to say here. Even at the end of your life they drive you around your hometown where you will no doubt be interred. Some will find this string and glockenspiel over Hallmark lyrics a bit corny, but I don't care, I teared up a little recording the guitar solo, probably the best one I've ever done, three guitars, the Molly Hatchet approach. I usually have a good cry at least once during the intense deadline of the RPM Challenge, but it can be a few weeks before I know if that was on account of sleep deprivation."
